Danijel Frka (born 6 August 1955 in Rijeka, Croatia) is an underwater explorer, photographer, historian, and writer. A traffic engineer by profession, he held senior management roles before retiring in 2022. He has been actively involved in autonomous diving since 1975 as a member of the Adria Diving Club and in underwater photography since 1978. A diving and underwater photography instructor, Frka is a multiple Croatian national champion, winning first place in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2008. He also served as Commissioner of the Croatian Diving Association for Underwater Photography and as a member of the CMAS International Commission.

His greatest competitive success came at the 2011 World Championship in Underwater Photography in Bodrum, where he won a bronze medal. Frka is a long-term associate and advisor to the Ministry of Culture and the Croatian Restoration Institute, specializing in hydroarchaeology and documentary underwater photography. He has participated in major expeditions, including research on the wrecks of the battleship Szent István, the ship Re d’Italia, the B-17 bomber near Vis, and the Apoxyomenos statue.

He is co-author of the award-winning TV series Big Shipwrecks of the Adriatic and several documentaries and books, including Secrets of the Adriatic Sea, Treasures of the Adriatic, Vis – The Last Hope, and Sunken Treasure of the Adriatic (2023). His work appears in leading international diving and history magazines.
